Kentucky Railway Museum is proud to announce that we have been chosen as a recipient of the American Plan Rescue Grant. Funding has been provided by Kentucky Humanities and the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) as part of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.
Kentucky Humanities, through the National Endowment for the Humanities, distributed $800,382 to 51 cultural and non-profit organizations across the Commonwealth of Kentucky, including $20,000 awarded to Kentucky Railway Museum, Inc. “Businesses across the country, including not-for-profit agencies, continue to feel the devastating impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Bill Goodman, Kentucky Humanities Executive Director. “This money appropriated by Congress will help many cultural organizations throughout the Commonwealth get back on their feet and adapt to the societal changes COVID-19 has brought. Kentucky Humanities is glad to work with the National Endowment for the Humanities to get these much-needed funds in the hands of humanities-based organizations throughout Kentucky.”
When asked how this grant will help the historic rail museum in New Haven, Kentucky Railway Museum Executive Director, Greg Mathews stated, “We appreciate the opportunity to apply for and be awarded this grant. It will be important to help our revenue and expense stream that was severely affected due to the pandemic and help us to continue carrying out our mission. Without the congressional support of Representative Brett Guthrie and our Senators Mr. Mitch McConnell and Mr. Rand Paul, this opportunity would not have been possible.”
